Something from the Bhajans - Kakad Arati
___________________________________________________________________________
How to describe this happiness? When the ego goes off, this happiness remains.
It is by that light of understanding that He has given, that the ego gets completely destroyed.
I go to the Self, while the body remains, yet I don't care for it.
Mind has become "no-mind." No trace of bondage remains.
Merged in the Self, I have forgotten even why I have come here (to do Arati).
Words have become meaningless. In this oneness, I see only myself everywhere.
The three attributes (gunas) have been transcended. The fullness of that which is indestructible and eternal is wondrous.
The light of Self-illumination never diminishes.
By concentrating there, I remember only Him. I forget even to blink!
Mind becomes "no-mind." I don't know even if it is day or night.
This Arati which is lit is "Vitthala," or "Arati of the Self." The fullness of that "Self-light" cannot be contained even in the sky, and overcomes the vastness of space.
Even the light of the sun and moon is diminished in that "Self-light."
All voices and music come from Me. Myself is everywhere. Everything is in Harmony.
In the ocean of bliss my intellect has been drowned with Divine Love, which has resulted in the achievement of the greatest happiness, which words cannot say.
By the company of the Sadguru, I got the understanding.
I came to do Arati, and have lit myself.
All thoughts have gone, mind becomes no-mind, Bliss without cause.
How to describe this happiness? When the ego goes off, this happiness remains.
It is by that light of understanding that He has given, that the ego gets completely destroyed.
- English translation of Kakad Arati - Taken from the English translations given by Shri Ranjit Maharaj in the books "Pathway to Understanding," and "From Bondage to Liberation."
