The 5 Dissolutions
__________________________________________________________________
The mortal individuals (Jivas), come into being when the vital "Life-Energy" (Chaitanya), and the five elements come together and unite in different proportions for creating females and males. Knowledge of the Self (Atman) eradicates the fear of the world of death (Yamaloka). The dissolution of the individual, the Jiva, comes in five different ways.
1. Dissolution through death (when death of the body comes, the jiva disappears).
2. Dissolution through sleep (in deep sleep, the entire world as well as the jiva disappears).
3. Dissolution through Brahman (when one understands "I am Brahman," the jiva disappears).
4. Dissolution of concepts (when concepts don’t remain, the jiva disappears).
5. Dissolution through discrimination (when the Real is discerned from the unreal, the jiva disappears).
The Self (Atman), is not the Ultimate Truth (Paramartha).
