Welcome To Sadguru.us
In India the word Sadguru (commonly spelled and pronounced as Satguru) means 'True Teacher.' The True Teacher is the one who gives knowledge and understanding of your Self, who you are, what your existence is, what God is, and what Reality is. The lineage of Ranjit Maharaj and Nisargadatta Maharaj is sometimes called the Sadguru Sampradaya because of the emphasis on the spiritual master or preceptor who can act as a guide for the aspirant to Self Realization. Siddharameshwar Maharaj was an Indian saint who lived in the early 20th Century and taught the Bird's Way to Self Realization.
The Bird's Way is the path of self-inquiry, questioning one's identity and concepts, and using concepts or thoughts to remove wrong concepts, then discarding both. Ranjit Maharaj used to say that the master's role is to provide knowledge and correct understanding and to use the power of thinking to take out wrong thinking, like one would use a thorn to take out a thorn. When the thorn of wrong thinking is taken out, then both thorns are throw away. Through study of holy texts and reflection on the teacher's instruction, one comes to easily realize one's True Nature.

Ranjit Maharaj was a modern saint from India who was a guru-brother of Nisargadatta Maharaj. Ranjit Maharaj gave clear direct teachings on nonduality and Final Reality to English and Marathi speaking aspirants throughout the mid and late 1990's. Maharaj worked into his 80s and after his retirement he mostly stayed in his small apartment in Mumbai on Dubash Lane where he offered afternoon talks in English and tea to aspirants who showed up on his doorstep to sit and talk with him. Ranjit Maharaj made several trips to Europe and the United States between 1996 and 2000, most of which have been video recorded. Some of the videos are available on the internet. Shri Siddharameshwar Maharaj was the spiritual teacher of Shri Nisargadatta Maharaj and Shri Ranjit Maharaj among several other self-realized masters who are relatively unknown in the West. Shri Siddharameshwar is considered by many to be the reviver of the Bird's Way for modern times. In the early 1920s Siddharameshwar Maharaj began teaching the Bird's Way of spiritual practice. The Bird's Way has been around since ancient times and is mentioned by name in such great spiritual classics as Dasbodh of Saint Samartha Ramdas. Siddharameshwar broke from his teacher's tradition of teaching only meditation as a means to Self-Realization and taught that the Bird's Way was a more direct and simple approach to spiritual fulfillment. Through his teaching and timeless presence, many aspirants have come to realize their True Nature, and many are still being benefitted to this day.
